Transition to hyperchaos in the dynamics of a nonlinear vibration absorber

The problem of a qualitative distinction between chaotic and hyperchaotic responses in a vibration absorber with two degrees of freedom is considered here. Based on pertinent statistics of the Poincareʹ maps, some properties of the chaos-hyperchaos transition are examined and discussed.
