Abstract
An analytical model which was developed in earlier work to study the lubrication problem in the channel formed by the inside surface of a rotating impulse drying press roll, and the bottom surface of an internal hydrostatic shoe, is extended in order to study the heat transfer problem occurring in this channel. Using the extended model, we predict the temperature and heat flow characteristics of the lubricating oil in the channel. Mathematical expressions for the relevant temperature profiles and corresponding heat fluxes are developed. Numerical results are computed with the results displayed graphically.
