Abstract :
A comprehensive model of the baroreflex-feedback mechanism regulating the heart rate, the contractility of the ventricle and the peripheral vascular resistance is presented. The dynamics of the affector and the effector parts are modelled. For each of the effector organs the steady state behaviour is used explicitely. Scenarios of heart infarct, mechanical clamping of peripheral regions and increasing peripheral resistance by drugs are used for validation of the dynamics of the model.
