Abstract
Raman spectroscopy is found to be an effective technique to characterize the symmetrical peroxy bond vibration frequencies of per/poly fluorodiacyl peroxides (RfCOO)2 (Rf=CF3, C2F5, n-C3F7, n-C7F15, H(CF2)2,4,6, 1–7) in F-113 (CClF2CCl2F) solution. The Raman absorptions of the peroxy bond (νOO) and carbonyl bond (νCO) for these compounds are strong. The νOO frequencies of (RfCOO)2 range from 699 to 731 cm−1, which are much lower than those of non-fluorinated peroxides (8–12). [H(CF2)2COO]2 exhibits a low frequency νOO of 699 cm−1, which may be due to intermolecular hydrogen bonding.
