Synthesis and properties of α-iodo-β-ethoxyvinyl trifluoromethyl ketone

α-Iodo-β-ethoxyvinyl trifluoromethyl ketone was synthesized by the reaction of β-ethoxyvinyl trifluoromethyl ketone with iodine monochloride and the following addition of pyridine. Structures of this α-iodoenone as well as intermediate compounds were established. Reactions of the α-iodoenone with mono- or dimethylamine yield corresponding α-iodoenaminones.
