Amorphous fluoropolymers from tetrafluoroethylene and bulky vinyl esters or vinyl ethers

Copolymers of tetrafluoroethylene (TFE) with vinyl esters and vinyl ethers having adamantyl or norbornyl side chains are prepared in good yield by radical polymerizations in organic solvents. The polymers are thermally stable, soluble in standard organic solvents and can have glass transition temperatures more than 100 °C higher than the corresponding copolymers with linear aliphatic side chains.
