Synthesis of arsenic pentafluoride by static fluorination of As2O3 in a closed system

As2O3 is oxidized to AsF5 at 250 °C by elemental fluorine. The synthesis that is described represents a convenient approach for the preparation of AsF5 on a 30–40 g scale, requiring only commercially available As2O3 and elemental fluorine.
