Stable bis(2-chloro-2,2-difluoroethoxy)-fluoromethyl cation at room temperature

A stable carbocation was prepared by reacting bis(2-chloro-2,2-difluoroethyl) difluoroformal with SbF5. The carbocationʹs structure was confirmed by 19F, 1H and 13C NMR measurements. The carbocation is stable at room temperature for more than 2 weeks and was converted into the corresponding carbonate when reacted with water.
