Abstract :
This paper evaluates the fatigue behavior of dense asphalt mixes in dry and environmental-conditioning states. Two-point bending tests were carried out without rest periods at 10 °C and 25 Hz, with the control of the displacement amplitude imposed on trapezoidal specimens. The effects of two different types of mineral fillers were also tested (granite and limestone powders). The results indicate that the action of water has a decisive influence on the fatigue resistance of the asphalt mixes, the effect being more negative with an increase in temperature. Furthermore, the asphalt mix formulated with limestone powder presented a better fatigue resistance.
