Abstract
Rheological properties of crumb rubber modified (CRM) binder with wax warm additive were evaluated at high, intermediate and low temperatures. CRM binders were blended using two wax additives and then artificially short-term and long-term aged using the rolling thin film oven (RTFO) and pressure aging vessel (PAV) procedures. Superpave binder tests were carried out on the binders through the rotational viscometer (RV), the dynamic shear rheometer (DSR), and the bending beam rheometer (BBR). In general, the results of this study indicated that (1) the wax additives into asphalt binder obviously decrease the viscosity; (2) the addition of wax additives is effective to improve the rheological properties of asphalt binder in high-temperature; (3) the use of crumb rubber positively influenced rutting and cracking properties; (4) the addition of LEADCAP showed the improvement of thermal cracking resistance in low-temperature.
