Approximate dynamic analysis of space trusses

This paper presents two new approximate analysis methods suitable for the dynamic analysis of space trusses. The methods, which are based on beam analogy and plate analogy techniques, involve only simple hand calculations and are intended to provide the designer with easy and accurate predictions of the dynamic behaviour of space trusses, and in particular their natural frequencies. After discussing the two methods, the paper presents wide-range assessments of their suitability in practical applications.
