Abstract :
The first enantioselective syntheses of carbocyclic ribavirin by both convergent and linear approaches are described. The linear approach from chiral nonracemic 2-azabicyclo[2.2.1]hept-5-en-3-one proves to be a highly efficient route to carbocyclic analogs of ribavirin.
