Abstract
A new method for performing random vibration analysis of linear structures is presented in this paper. The method results from direct application of a well known result of Linear Systems Theory and allows computation of RMS values of any number of structural outputs: displacements, stresses, element forces, accelerations, etc. RMS of Von Mises stresses can be also obtained. In all cases, the results produced are exact for white noise excitation inputs and can be as accurate as desired for excitations with arbitrary PSD laws. These results can be postprocessed by standard Finite Element packages in much the same manner as if they had been obtained in conventional static analysis.
