Abstract :
A catalytic amount of Yb(OiPr)3 (5 mol%) was found to be an excellent and practical catalyst for the nitro-Mannich reaction of nitromethane with sulfonylimines affording the corresponding adducts in 81–100% isolated yields under extremely mild reaction conditions.
