Abstract :
The reaction of (Z)-3-iodo-3-trifluoromethyl allylic alcohols 2 and CO in the presence of catalytic Pd(PPh3)4 afforded 3-trifluoromethyl-2(5H)-furanones (γ-lactones) 3.
