Abstract :
Mechanical models were presented in this study to define structural properties of steel single-plate shear connections. The development of the model was aimed at predicting behaviors of the connections subjected to monotonic, cyclic, and blast-like loadings. Theoretical algorithms were derived based on the Component method, kinematic hardening model, and energy conservation theory. The proposed models and computational algorithms are able to determine the responses under various loading conditions, using only geometric and material information of the connection components. The reliability and accuracy of the models were validated using experiment and finite element analysis results. The mechanical model proved to be efficient and effective when applied to frame analysis in this research.
