Abstract
meso-Tetrakis(imidazol-5-yl)porphyrins (TIP) have been prepared from 2-n-butylimidazole-5-carboxaldehyde and pyrrole in refluxing propionic acid. Different substituted imidazole aldehydes with a free NH group are synthesized and treated with pyrrole to afford the corresponding meso-tetrakis(2-n-butyl-(4-X)-imidazol-5-yl)porphyrins (X=Cl, Br or H).
