Abstract :
A general and efficient preparation of 1,3-diarylpropenes, useful precursors for the synthesis of flavanols, is based on cross metathesis of protected 2-allylphenols with styrenes in presence of the Grubbs catalyst Cl2(PCy3)2RuCHPh.
