Abstract :
The reaction of 5,8,1′-tri-O-acetylshikonin(alkannin) with KOH in an alcohol gives selectively 1′-O-acetyl-8-O-alkylshikonin(alkannin)s through methoxylation under tautomerism followed by quinone monoketalization.
