Abstract :
Photoirradiation of a benzene solution containing 9-cyanophenanthrene (1) and trans-1,2-dianisylcyclopropane (t-2a) by a high pressure mercury lamp through Pyrex filter gave (3+2) photocycloadduct 3a and ring-opened photoadducts 4a–6a.
