Abstract :
A novel two-step synthesis of norbisabolide is reported involving free radical addition of Meldrumʹs acid to (R)-(+)-limonene using cerium(IV) ammonium nitrate (CAN) followed by decarboxylation with poly-4-vinylpyridine.
