Symmetrical doubly connected head-to-head α-cyclodextrin dimers: a high yield synthesis of a novel type of neoglycolipid

A “head-to-head” type α-cyclodextrin dimer, wherein the two primary rims are doubly ligated through alkyl chains, is synthesised in high yield using acyclic diene metathesis (ADM) followed by ring closing metathesis (RCM).
