Abstract :
Baeyer–Villiger reactions of sterically crowded cyclic and acyclic ketones are remarkably accelerated by carrying out the reactions under solvent-free conditions in the presence of powdered NaHCO3. The corresponding lactones and esters have been obtained in excellent yields.
