  • Abstract
The Ti2Cu interaction with hydrogen is determined to be possible in the destructive hydrogenation (DH) region. The Ti2Cu DH process is realized at the temperatures 373, 473, 573, 773 and 973 K. Its products were titanium dihydride and copper-rich with regard to Ti2Cu intermetallic phases as well as the copper against the absorbed hydrogen amount. The mechanism of the Ti2Cu destructive hydrogenation consists in the following: hydrogen selectively interacts with titanium which leaves from the Ti2Cu composition, according to the scheme: β-TiHy (bct-bcc) → TiH1,92 (fcc). The copper-riched intermetallic phases form after such titanium amounts leaves from Ti2Cu composition which support the formation of a new Ti:Cu stoichiometric ratio according to the Ti–Cu state diagram.
