Reactivity of CFn (n=1–3) species with a silica surface

The trends in reactivity of CFn neutrals with a silica surface are studied using two different cluster models. CF appears to be the most reactive species. The energetics, the activation energies, and the forward reaction rates are computed for two reactions involving the SiO bond breaking.
