Abstract
The influence of interface roughness on the magnetic order in magnetic multilayers is studied in order to explain a phase shift of the exchange coupling oscillation in Fe(0 0 1)/Cr/Fe trilayers. The magnetic moments distribution with different alloying at the interfaces is calculated self-consistently within periodic Anderson model. The special random procedure, which constructs a disordered alloy with different atomic concentration and exchanges the atoms of the neighbouring layers, is developed. It is shown that introduction of the additional mixed layer at the Fe/Cr interface leads to the π-shift of oscillations only for Fe concentration above 40%. However, taking into account the intermixing on both interfaces could decrease this concentration to 15% and even less.
