  • Abstract
2D micromagnetic simulations in a simple magnetic circular particle were performed in order to clarify the use of the transverse biased susceptibility measurements for the evaluation of the anisotropy constant and magnetostatic field strength. The simulated particle was divided into two halves with mutually orthogonal uniaxial anisotropy axes and the same anisotropy value. From the simulation, the Hoffman stray and anisotropy fields, which are used as descriptive macroscopic parameters of the microstructure of the system, were evaluated. Our simulations showed that the transverse biased susceptibility measurements in this case would not give the value of the anisotropy in each region but the geometrical averaged anisotropy which is not adequate in this case to describe the hysteresis process. The measured Hoffmann stray field could not be attributed to pure magnetostatic field strength but to a complex interplay of dipolar, anisotropy and exchange contributions.
