Abstract
In the present work, buckling analysis of tri-layer beams having double delaminations is studied in terms of the newly introduced nondimensionalized axial and bending stiffnesses. Appropriate equilibrium conditions, kinematical continuity and boundary conditions have been used to solve the equation, governing buckling. The developed model is verified with the previously published data for homogeneous beams having double delaminations. Excellent agreement between the results is observed. Effective slenderness ratio, a new nondimensionalized parameter, is defined and introduced, which controls buckling. A transition between Euler and thin film buckling, associated with S-shaped buckling is observed for certain delamination lengths.
