Abstract :
The paper deals with numerical modeling and experimental testing of the clinched joint combined with an adhesive bonding. Two specimen manufacturing procedures were used to prepare overlap hybrid joint: adhesive curing before clinching, and clinching before adhesive curing. The strength of the joints was determined experimentally in the tensile test by pull and peel method. The experimental results were compared with numerical simulation results using ABAQUS code. The major conclusion of the paper is the following – clinching before adhesive curing is more effective technology for the joint strength.
