Abstract :
The Bozzolo–Ferrante–Smith method for alloys is applied to the study of Au growth on Cu(1 0 0) and Cu(1 1 0). Atom-by-atom analysis of the energy contributions of each atom in the system explain the observed features, highlighting the influence of the low coverage regime in the resulting surface alloy.
