Abstract :
Interaction at the interface between glass fiber (GF) and nylon-6 was investigated by laser Raman spectroscopy. Peaks for CO stretching vibration and NH stretching vibration shifted slightly to a higher frequency by changing the beam spot from the bulk of nylon-6 to the interface. This shows that the interaction at the interface was slightly weaker than that of the bulk of nylon-6. The results of molecular orbital calculation for the model compounds of nylon-6 and coupling agent covering the surface of nylon-6 suggests that the hydrogen bonds at the interface was slightly weaker than that of the bulk of nylon-6, supporting the results of laser Raman spectroscopy.
