Abstract :
A portable solid oxide fuel cell using butane gas as fuel was demonstrated. A yttria stabilized zirconia (YSZ) tube (7 mm in diameter and 90 mm in length) was used as the electrolyte with a porous Pt cathode and a Ni–YSZ cermet anode. The cell showed an output power of 0.14 W using a commercial butane gas bomb.
