Abstract
Advanced battery modeling and simulation can be realized with a unique computational fluid dynamics (CFD) approach that provides much detailed information that can greatly benefit battery research and development. Integrating such modeling capability with careful laboratory validations provides an effective and powerful tool for battery design, testing, prototyping, and performance optimization. In this paper, we will focus on the demonstration of the modeling capabilities and the integration of the experimental validation results in the understanding of battery performance. Improvements in the experimental validation can also enhance the modeling capability, enabling high-fidelity prediction of battery behavior, and even cycle life.
