Abstract :
We report on a study of the gelation phenomenon of poly(vinyl alcohol) in water through freezing–thawing cycles. From self-exclusion chromatography experiments carried out on redissolved gels and microcalorimetry measurements performed on gels we come to the conclusion that gelation is rather of chemical than of physical nature.
