Abstract :
A new type of lithium ion conducting solid electrolyte, LiNO3 and KNO3 co-doped (Gd1−xLax)2O3, was developed by introducing the alkali metal nitrates into the open space in the (Gd1−xLax)2O3 solid lattice. Among the samples prepared, 0.6(Gd0.8La0.2)2O3–0.16LiNO3–0.24KNO3 showed the highest lithium ion conductivity, namely 6.14 × 10− 2 and 2.83 × 10− 4 S cm− 1 at 400 and 100 °C, respectively. These values are comparable to those of LISICON systems. Pure Li+ ion conduction was successfully demonstrated by the dc electrolysis method.
