Abstract
The main principles and guidelines of a method for substantiating and prolonging the allowed service life and the time between overhauls for high-time aircraft-derivative terrestrial engines are presented. It is shown that equivalent tests can reveal the main faults in such engines in short order, check the effectiveness of measures for eliminating these faults, and assess the expected service life of the engine. It is noted that an automated diagnostics system should be developed and introduced in practice for establishing and prolonging the allowed service life and the time between overhauls on the basis of monitoring the technical state of the engine.
