Abstract :
A code for calculating natural convection of the corium melt in a two-dimensional geometry by the finite-element method was created and verified for the case of a severe accident in a VVHR reactor. The effective counterflow approximation is used in the code, which enables the problem to handle large Rayleigh numbers.
