Abstract :
The effect of the method used for supplying heat to the external surface of a wall on the averaged heat-transfer coefficient was investigated. Paradoxical situations for ultimate stepped pulsations in the rate of heat-transfer are described; here, the averaged heat-transfer coefficient is no longer determined by the convective heat-transfer characteristics and depends only on the thermophysical properties and the thickness of the wall and also on the period of the pulsations.
