Abstract :
We present, for the first time, a formulation of the Thomas–Fermi model, taking into account thermal, nonextensive, and relativistic effects. A new generalized Thomas–Fermi equation is obtained. It is shown that unlike the thermal corrections, the nonextensivity prescription has no influence on the relativistic effects. The latter reduce the Thomas–Fermi screening length, a trend which may be attributed to the concentration of relativistic electrons in the vicinity of the nucleus. Our results may help in interpreting screening process in relativistic dense astrophysical plasmas.
