The Present State and Prospects for the Development of Global Nuclear Energy

A review is given of reports on problems of nuclear energy that were presented to the 17th Congress of the World Energy Council, which was held on September 13-18, 1998, in Houston (the United States). Also, a brief characteristic is presented of the Program for the Development of Nuclear Energy in the Russian Federation in the years 1998-2005 and in the period to the year 2010, which was approved by a decree of the Govermnent of the Russian Federation of July 21,1998.
