Abstract :
The phenomenon of spin freezing is found to be present in KMnFeF6, as is found in canonical spin glasses, using Mِssbauer spectroscopy. The spin structure derived in the present study using an applied magnetic field agrees with the results of an earlier neutron diffraction study. Our measurements show that the direction of the remanent magnetization is along the a-axis. It is argued that the spin glass ordering due to the frustration alone and that due to the frustration and randomness differ in the nature and the number of magnetic ground states available.
