The Experience of the Podolsk Engineering Works in Developing Power Units of Enhanced Efficiency

The concept of power units of enhanced efficiency (PUEE) is described. It is shown that additional connections between the boiler and the turbine make it possible to increase the capacity of the turbine with an invariable boiler steam output or to decrease the steam output with the capacity of the turbine being invariable. In this case, the specific fuel consumption for producing electricity decreases, and the environmental indices of the boiler are improved. Payback of investments when implementing the PUEE scheme is fast. The importance of the skills of the designer for successful development of PUEE is emphasized.
