Abstract
The necessity for introducing new technical solutions to improve the efficiency of heating of the air used for combustion in a steam boiler and for cooling the stack gases is shown. A new heat-transfer surface in the form of a layer of cast ball grids is proposed for enhancement of heat transfer in rotating regenerative air heaters (RAH).
