REVIEW OF DEVELOPMENTS IN DISCOURSE IDENTITY

The article reviews the definition and development of discourse and identity according to different theories and scholars. While the majority of literature reviews considers the importance of discourse identity, the researches review the construction and structure of discourse identity around related issues. As pointed out by Scollon (1996) about the issue of discourse identity in intercultural communication, the reasons of misinterpretation and wrong conclusions are studied in the last part of the article. Taken together, the researchers at the end assert the necessity of individuals’ awareness of discourse identity in their real life.
