Abstract :
Summary ric videotape assessment (GVA) is a new, ecological method of assessment for elderly demented subjects. The behavior of the patients is recorded in the following areas: dressing and undressing, going to and getting out of bed, personal hygiene, laying and clearing the table, preparing coffee, eating, drinking, washing dishes and dusting furniture. The videosequences are compared with check lists of correct motor elements, identifying incorrect sequences of the activity, in order to tailor a specific therapeutic rehabilitation program. GVA is incorporated into a comprehensive assessment program of dementia, including also the traditional instruments, in order to convalidate the new methodology.
