Abstract :
Electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) spectra have been measured in diluted magnetic semiconductor Hg1−xMnxTe1−ySey with y=0.01, x=0.01, 0.03, 0.05, 0.14 in the temperature range 20–290 K. The influence of various interactions on the EPR linewidth broadening has been studied. We find that very weak dependence of the observed linewidth on the manganese concentration and temperature cannot be explained by superexchange. An interpretation in terms of the exchange scattering of the free charge carriers on the Mn2+ ions is proposed. It is shown that the main contribution to the EPR linewidth in the zero-gap samples with x=0.03 and 0.05 at lower temperatures arises from the exchange interaction between the Mn2+ d electrons and holes in the acceptor impurity band.
