Abstract :
The magnetic property of natural cuprate Cu2Cl(OH)3 is of interest in view of the interaction between the 3d Cu2+–Cu2+ spins that can be compared with the coupling in high-Tc cuprates. A magnetic susceptibility study on mineral crystal atacamite Cu2Cl(OH)3 shows that the atacamite is an intrinsic antiferromagnet with TN=9 K. A metamagnetism is also revealed.
