Abstract
The interphase preparation of gold dispersions in hexane using N,N-tridecyl(3-aza-3decyltridecan)ammonium iodide as the phase transfer agent is described. Dispersity and phase composition of the disperse phase of colloidal dispersions were analysed by chemical analysis, transmission electron microscopy (TEM), X-ray diffractometry (XRD), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and UV–vis spectroscopy. The disperse phase of the colloidal dispersion is shown to consist of crystalline spherical particles of gold having the mean diameter ca. 2.6 nm (σ=0.47). The properties of the gold film deposited at the walls of the reaction vessel in the aqueous phase simultaneously with formation of the gold hexane colloidal dispersion are also described.
