Abstract
The adsorption of 1-butanol and 2-butanol on two various crystal faces of Ag electrode using two various supporting electrolytes (NaF and LiClO4) was investigated. The differential capacity data were analyzed to determine the influence of the type of electrode and supporting electrolyte on the standard Gibbs energy of adsorption (ΔG°ads) and parameter of interactions in the adsorbed layer (A). It was found that in the systems studied, where the interactions of alcohols with the metal are not significant, the value of ΔG°ads is a result of values of all interactions which appear in the inner layer region at the electrode; hence it is dependent on the adsorbate interactions with water and ions of the supporting electrolyte.
