Scaling of rovibrationally inelastic rate constants for rapidly rotating molecules

The treatment of rovibrational transfer at elevated rotational angular momentum as a gateway phenomenon with sudden dynamics leads to a very simple scaling relationship with a single adjustable parameter. The result quite accurately reproduces experimental rate constants. The physical significance of this result is discussed.
